{ being tourists }

Dear Friends & Family

After filling out paperwork at John's work, we wanted to explore more of Berlin. John wanted to take me to the Brandenburg Gate where they held their NYE show. It's amazing that two days before the streets were packed with people ready to ring in the new year. As we were walking towards the gate, we came across Besucherordnung, a memorial to the murdered Jews in Europe. To see a better version of the rules, here's a random link I found. { click here }

After we took in the sights, we decided to go back to Kreuzberg (we are still trying to figure out the pronunciation...it's not cruise-berg). John likes that area and there's a popular Currywurst stand that he wanted to try. Just before we left to Berlin, we had a chance to try Berlin Currywurst in LA, so of course we had to have it in Berlin.

After we had our fill of it, we went across the street to have British food at East London. There was only one guy taking tables, so we waited a little before he came to take our order. It was nice when he came up to us and said, "Thanks for waiting. Are you ready to order?" We ordered two Carlsberg (never had before), and we shared their Beef & Ale Pie, which was a beef stew with a puff pastry on top. Overall the meal was great and the server was friendly. And if I'm craving fish & chips, I know where to go (too bad John doesn't like beer battered fish).

So that was our very busy Wednesday. I wish I could have made this all one entry, but we were non stop all day. We took so many subways to get to so many neighborhoods, it was hard to keep track of it all. Luckily I was given a map of the subway lines because we do not have our internet phones to guide us if we're lost.
Today we continue with our errands, and we are meeting up with one of John's office mates for dinner who is from Virginia. Tim came here a year ago with his girlfriend, so it'll be nice to pick their brains on their experience moving here and adjusting to a new country.

xoxo,
The Prindles.
